Industry overview and insights

Given the insight I've had into the different workings of the industry over the years, I work with a variety of companies and organisations who want to learn more about the wider podcast industry and the current landscape. I can provide a general overview, as well dig deeper into more targeted areas. Formats can include:

Content strategy

Can include:

  • Inventory of content output of business/creator/brand

  • Working closely with the client to understand what they want to create, why they want to create and who they want to create it for

  • For larger organisations, interviews with relevant staff/team members to find areas of podcast content potential

  • Understanding what the clients limitations are in terms of resources/time and working on something that will reflect their passions and be sustainable and achievable for them

  • Recommendations on content ideas

  • Recommendations on format of the show

  • Recommendations on launch format i.e. no. shows, channel/s, network etc

Workflow

Can include:

  • Inventory of internal teams who could form part of podcast business

  • Inventory of internal resources

  • Recommendations on how to incorporate podcast output into business with recommendations on external resource where applicable

Discoverability

Can include:

  • Guidance on metadata practices for discoverability on all the major podcast platforms 

  • Guidance on how best to design artwork assets (including cover) for all the major podcast platforms 

Monetisation

Can include:

  • Presentation on different monetisation solutions for podcasts

  • Consultation with business/creator on brand, priorities of the business/brand and priorities for the podcast to identify best monetisation solution

  • Recommendation on monetisation strategy 

Promotion

Can include:

  • Pitching for promotion across major platforms for launch based on client supplied design and copy assets (please note that promotions are at the platform’s discretion and can never be guaranteed)

  • Identifying podcasts for promotion/guest swaps

Launch strategy

  • Working closely with the client to identify the best hosting solution for their specific needs

  • Advising on distribution across all relevant platforms that make sense for your podcast 

  • Advising on best practices for each platform, ensuring they are met (especially around metadata and artwork)

  • Guidance on how best to design for the different podcast platforms 

  • Promotion strategy 

Setup and launch

Can include:

  1. Detailed instructions on uploading all content, artwork and copy to hosting platform

  2. Ensuring best practices for the chosen platforms are met (especially around metadata and artwork)

  3. Pitching for promotion across major platforms for launch based on client supplied design and copy assets
